Mr. Squirrel was in charge of the cleaning crew.
Watching the cleaning crew from a highchair in his field office. You can see that the major part of his office has been ripped off by the strong wind.
The latest storm is all over the news here, as it was a real banger. Storm winds, fires and rain all in one created havoc. Severe damages were caused, homes were destroyed, and many people lost everything that they owned. Trees were uprooted like carrots, and not small trees as some were very big. Sadly, other trees lost many of their branches as the winds simply ripped them off. So as soon as the storm was over, the cleaning started and most everywhere somebody was busy, either cleaning or repairing damages to their homes.
We went out to see if there were any damages at one of the coffee places we often visit, and let me tell you that the trees really suffered here. Stacked, broken branches were collected in heaps all over the place, as many of the trees were damaged by the wind.
Scars remain on the surviving branches to show where sections of them were ripped off.
Four sections here below, are also evidence of how strong the winds were.
And, that bottom branch on the tree at the right, is the photo that I shared above. You can see how low the wind came over above the ground. A real roof-ripper!
Thankfully the palms did not show any damages, so they still stood strong in the subsequent slower winds.
The winds were also starting to clear the skies after the storm, and we had an almost clear sunshine day later on.
I have shown you in a previous post how the birds enjoyed the sunshine, and that was on the third day after the storm. The day following the pictures that I took on this day. The winds can run at tremendous speeds during the storms over here, and we have even watched a video that shows how the wind from the land prevents the high tide in the ocean from taking place, as it simply turned the waves back. No wonder so many old, big sailing ships have sunk here on the coast, in the old days. Another thing is, that a monster wind like this, can change direction in the blink of an eye, so one moment you are walking forward, and the next moment you are walking backwards. One step forward, two steps backward, sort of thing. Glad that we survived, and we feel so sorry for all of those that lost everything or have major damages and costs.
Such is life.
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.
