During a break in the torrential rain, we were out in a flash to see the sights under a weak African sun.
Can you believe that we will only have dry cloudy days next Friday and maybe Sunday?
A series of cold fronts have been coming in over the Atlantic Ocean since last week Monday and it's not letting up. Determined to drown the country, and several townships have already been demolished in floods.
To cap it all, a few days ago we had an earthquake inland in the Gauteng Province, and luckily no one was killed, although some buildings and houses were damaged. People were also forced to evacuate their houses.
But I digress and so come and have a look at the beauty on this day.
I will let the pictures tell you their stories.
All of the photos were taken at the Vergelegen Wine Estate and the farm is so big, that I often take photos in different areas for my posts. This farm also has a plethora of activities on it, too many to describe here.
So, you are welcome to have a look at the safe link HERE
I can tell you that Vergelegen receives 100,000 visitors annually.
This is nature's idea of a Christmas tree, as the sun lit up the outer edges of the tree in the front.
And then the mist started coming in.
Imagine that! Mist coming in during late afternoon means that rain is lurking behind the mountain rims. With the strong winds that we have here, it could start raining in a few minutes.
As you can see below, even the geese became worried, as they knew that the rain was not far off.
Yep! The geese started to leave, which was my signal to also make our way back to the car that was quite a distance away.
But of course, not before I got a few more photos in :)
And I was right, as the rain started and we had just enough time to get into our car. I like these short adventures, as I go around taking as many photos of landscapes and other things as I can. There are also some nice ponds and dams on the farm, and I had a chance to take some photos on the way out. Sadly there was no time to relax with a cup of coffee, as the restaurants were closed for the day. It seems to be the trend now for the rain breaks to appear in the late afternoon.
I also got some great photos of metal bird sculptures that I will show you in another post.
Just another day in paradise.
I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.
And that's All Friends.
