The sun was shining, and we did not expect it to rain.
There are some idioms (sayings) to explain when it rains while the sun is shining. One idiom that stands out is that it's called a Monkey's wedding.
Well, we felt like real monkeys when the rain shower pelted down on the roof of our car. I think that as the shower came from the east, and the sun was shining in the west, two opposite winds crashed in the middle of the sky above us. I will not go and look for the scientific reason for this occurrence, as I am sure that you can google it for yourself. Although unexpected, but the rain was welcome to break the heat.
It hasn't happened to us for a long time, but I have repeatedly said before that we are having strange weather here nowadays. But then again, if I look across some of the posts and in the media, I see that the weather is strange across the globe. Some call it global warming, and they might just be correct. Our dam levels are seriously depleted, due to our winter weather of last season, increasing the levels as usual. Less rain fell and now the summer sun is drinking up the rest of it, to go and create storms and floods further inland.
Come drive with us.
Although the morning was cloudy, I thought that it would be the same as any other day, as we regularly have lovely clouds on the mountains.
Then this below happened, and we call it a shower as it only lasted for a few minutes.
Nearing home, and you can see that the road was wet with steam rising from the road.
At the left you can see the sun, and at the right you can see the rain clouds.
The sun tried to clear a cloud, but no go and I took this photo from our home.
I have to say that no more rain fell, but at least our car got a free wash from nature :)
Some will be annoyed at this, especially the danger of slippery wet roads, and we have many delivery guys riding about on small motorbikes to deliver orders to private houses. Not only the slippery roads, but we even saw some that did not have raincoats on, so you can imagine how wet they got in that rain shower. Believe me, I know what it feels like, as in my younger days I travelled to work and back in all seasons on a motorbike, and sometimes the weather conditions were also far from ideal.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
