One thing that I learned long ago was that whenever I see a bush or a tree, to inspect it thoroughly. Every branch from the top of the tree to the bottom.
Many times, I find what I will show you in here.
A magnificent Malachite Sunbird above sat and calmly looked at me. But that was not all, as he was going to show me something new.
We all go through periods in our lives when nothing seems to make sense to us. I must have asked myself a thousand times the question, what is life, and every time myself has the same answer, life is to be lived.
Now in my later life, I am starting to understand it, as nature is a great teacher. Nature teaches acceptance and animals and birds display the lesson so well. When a pair of sparrows suddenly lose their babies to a raptor nest raider, the sparrows just go and build another nest in a safer spot.
What I am saying here is that things are what they are and no amount of tears, or moaning, is going to change anything. Instead, we just have to go on.
Thank goodness that I have seen this before and I immediately knew that it was feeding time.
Bang! He dropped down into the protea bushes below the tree and I searched excitedly, as I knew that he was feeding. But I couldn't see anything.
So, I waited patiently and then the mom appeared. Luckily, I was standing in the right place as I had moved around the tree.
The mom led my eyes straight to the spot where the baby was hiding.
Jackpot! There sat the little baby and what a beauty, but then the baby flew, and I had to search again with no luck to see it.
So, I had to wait again, and as the mom landed this time, she gave me a look.
The mom showed me the baby again and the little one was also looking at me. And then it was gone again.
But this time I could see where it landed even though it was hiding from me.
There we go, as finally it gave me another inquisitive look.
I was reminded about some song lyrics that go, Oh the games that people play now, by Joe South (1969) and I often play hide and seek with the birds. Even if it took me the whole day, I would have found this little one. Fortunately it was only maybe an hour.
Listen to the song "Games people play" and tell me what you think about it.
I hope that you have enjoyed the story and the pictures.
