...to see the blue skies again, as we lived in darkness during the past few days. Only occasional short cloud breaks.
No, our lights weren't switched off, instead the skies were darkened by two severe cold fronts. So bad were the storms, that now they reckon that thousands of people lost their homes in the floods. This number will increase, as the uprooted trees by the wind has also cost a few lives, and a big job is waiting for the workers to restore all of the damages. So, imagine our relief at seeing some blue skies again. At first, during the early morning, we thought that it would be another dark day as shown in the photo below. You know, one of those days where the winds will come in again later on to create havoc, and so it was very dispiriting. Little were we to know that finally the last cold front would start to leave today.
This photo below was our early morning view of the conditions, dark and dreary.
But whoa, this was our afternoon view, the same spot as the photo above.
Gradually, the sky started to lighten up.
And I took this later in the afternoon.
A pair of Sacred Ibises heading East. Note that we saw no birds in the sky during the storms, so this was the first for me to see birds again.
The remaining photos were also taken later in the afternoon.
The weatherman reckons that we will still have clouds tomorrow, but no rain, and only the cold will remain here, which is good methinks especially as the apple trees need the cold for a deeper sleep. It is a sad story, however, that the floods have destroyed the crops of so many farmers. This is life and the good and the bad run together. It is whatever we choose to entertain.
Thankfully, we will not be wet again for the rest of the week, as some people can hopefully salvage some of the stuff that they have lost. Good news is that an NPO called The Haven has now undertaken to expand all of their sites that temporarily house the street people. It is there where the people can receive food, a bed, and a shower. We have a branch over here, and Papillon recently donated some sweet stuff to their family shelter.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
