This Macaw broke his bell, and he was playing a game with my wife.
You will be sure to like the fun that we had with birds in here. I can only show you three occasions, as the post will be too long if I have to show you all of the incidents with different birds. So, I will show you the game with the Macaw, then the birds that my wife was feeding on the balcony of our apartment, and finally my wife and a Galah Cockatoo. Many business owners at the restaurants in the town have pet birds, and there is also a very large bird sanctuary just outside of a nearby town called Robertson.
It was at this bird sanctuary that my wife played with the Macaw.
So come and join us.
He flashed his head as he threw the bell's "ding a ling" down on the floor.
So now milady, are you just going to stand there? PICK UP THE BLOODY BELL!
Dutifully the lady picked the bell up. She doesn't like litter you know :)
Thank you milady! This game went on for about 20 minutes, and as we left, we could still hear the clanging sound of the bell hitting the floor. He must have found another playmate :)
Now come and have breakfast with me on our balcony.
This was day two of our stay, and I will show you day one of my wife feeding the birds on the balcony in another post.
I sat dead still like a statue, in order to get the birds used to me over the two mornings.
Paydirt! She popped in to take a little nibble from my hand.
Then, another lady appeared and she also took a little nibble. No doubt, testing me in case I tried to grab her.
Look how cute she took another little nibble.
Trust! Finally, she decided that she could trust me, and look at the big mouthful that she took. I think, many women are like this as at first us poor guys have to get them to trust us, and then they just take over:)
And finally, here was our first meeting of many with a Galah Cockatoo.
Yay! She could tickly the birds stomach.
Now just have a look at that happy face.
And here, we have two happy faces! You can see my wife loves the birds. Just a pity about the cages.
And that's it for now, as I said before we had many incidents with the birds that I will post from time to time. The place is alive with wildlife, and when I read this slogan, Now expect the unexpected, I knew exactly what it meant as not one day of our short stay here was the same. Every day had some treasures for the camera, and even with my wonky knee we walked all over the place.
Next up, I will show you our river walk and the historic caves in the mountainside. We were the first guests at Avalon Springs after the recent flood as they reopened on the day that we arrived. We heard some amazing stories about the levels of the water coming through, covering all of the spring pools, damaging the restaurants, and even flooding up to the level of the resort reception.
I found a video of the November 2023 flood, that I will show you in the "River walk" post.
I hope that you have enjoyed the birds and the story.
