Cold here due to the unexpected snow, but the birds didn't seem to mind.
I framed the snow on the mountain peak in the "V" of a big tree.
A variety of bird pictures to show you how happy the birds are in the cold.
Luckily there was no rain today, as the rain stopped overnight, but we are running at 10C afternoon and 1C early morning.
To beat it all, we are scheduled for a Level 4 power cut tonight and that means that for 4 hours there will be no electricity. Not that it bothers us, but we think here about the mothers with babies and the old people.
Spare a thought also for the thousands that live in tin shacks and let's hope that no fires will be started again by fires that people make to keep warm.
In any case, come and look at the birds.
First up is a singing Southern Fiscal (Lanius collaris).
Up next is a Southern Double-collared Sunbird (Cinnyris chalybeus).
Then we have a singing Cape Wagtail (Motacilla capensis).
We took a break with this snowy mountain picture.
A little Cape White-eye here below (Zosterops virens)
A Cape Robin-chat spotted some cheese (Cossypha caffra)
A female Yellow Bishop posed for me (Euplectes capensis)
A family of Swee Waxbill birds swarmed in to eat some grass seeds.(Coccopygia melaniotis)
And finally, a littler squirrel to greet you all.
Come what may, the birds have to eat and when their tummies are full, they sing praises to thank their Creator. They also show us how to have gratitude for everything that we have, as there are millions of poor people out there that do not know where their next meal will come from.
The recent floods have also destroyed many homes of the poor taking the little bits that they had with it and desperation is at the order of the day. The affected people are housed in community halls and other safe venues until the weather subsides and then they have to leave and to start all over again.
So many days do I wish that I was a bird, wild and free, but it is not to be.
What a life!
I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures.
And That's All Friends.
