Tired of the same old, same old, here is a bit with a difference.
It was yet another one of those cloudy days, and one had to wait for the sun to break through to get some shots.
So, we traveled up the long road that you see in the pictures, in order to get to a high spot near the one mountain. At times, the sunlight will blitz through the clouds very sharply and at other times the clouds will control the light. As I said before, taking photos from the high spot required patience, as one had to wait for the wind to shift the clouds.
We are still trapped with the power cuts here, as currently, we have 3 power cuts per day. So we just have to work our way around things.
Here below is a bit of a closer look at the road.
Now let's turn our attention to them thar hills.
Sadly, the colors on my camera's screen look much sharper than they do on this PC.
The two photos below were taken when the sun broke through the cloud curtains.
And then the clouds darkened everything again.
This was the last colored shot that I could get in before the sun disappeared.
And below you can see why, as the clouds started to dominate the views.
Look how the clouds were wrapping the mountain, as we were traveling back down from the high spot.
So, I took my chances and I know that I got some good-looking landscapes, but luck is not always on one's side. There is no reason to fight, or curse the elements, as they were designed for purposes of their own. A far better way is to embrace them and to value their presence. Without water, there would be no life and to me clouds mean water. Maybe it was not going to rain here, but I am sure that those clouds were on their way to rain somewhere in our country. We are in a winter rainfall area and now in Autumn, our winter is waiting around the corner.
Whenever heavy storms create destruction and flooding in the inland provinces, they would blame us down here in the Cape for sending the storms to them, but in reality we have nothing to do with it, as the storms arrive from the Atlantic ocean. The ocean runs along our coast lines all the way around the Cape until it meets with the Indian ocean far down to the south at Cape Agulhas. Yes, the sea water is cold here and the Atlantic is famous for bad weather, but on the nice sunny days it is a real pleasure to have it here.
