Like every Tuesday, I'm digging deep into the archives. This time 30 years old slides from Rome.

Jako každé úterý, i dnes sahám hluboko do archívu. Tentokrát 30 let staré diapozitivy z Říma.

When you go to Rome, you can't get lost. After all, "all roads lead to Rome ".

The historic centre of Rome has its own charm. What else would you expect from a city founded by wolf-sucking dudes. It may be a "pile of stones", but it's stones touched by patricians and plebeians, emperors and rabble, legionaries and slaves. You squint your eyes to avoid being disturbed by the ubiquitous tourists and imagine that in the jumble of languages you hear Latin.

Když jedete do Říma, nemůžete zabloudit. Přece "všechny cesty vedou do Říma".

Historické centrum Říma má svoje kouzlo. Co jiného čekat od města, které založili týpci odkojení vlčicí. Sice z historie zůstala jen "hromada kamení", ale je to kamení, kterého se dotýkali patriciové a plebejové, císaři i lůza, legionáři i otroci. Přimhouříte oči aby vás nerušili všudypřítomní turisté a představíte si, že ve změti jazyků slyšíte latinu.

Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi. Habet, jam habet! Historia vero testis temporum, lux veritatis, vita memoriae, magistra vitae, nuntia vetustatis. Si hortum et bibliotheca habes, nihil deerit. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. In rutrum. Morbi scelerisque luctus velit...

Rome, of course, has its own "modern" history. I mean modern in the historical sense, where we don't care about a century. Popes and their artists. Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello... April O'Neil... Sorry, I got carried away. Let yourself too.

Řím má samozřejmě i svou "moderní" historii. Myslím tím moderní v historickém smyslu, kdy nám na nějakém tom století nezáleží. Papežové a jejich umělci. Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello... April O'Neil... pardon, nechal jsem se unést. Nechte se také.
