Lví silou, vzletem sokolím

The Sport and Physical Education Association Sokol was founded in 1862 and is the largest and most successful organization of its kind in Czechia. I will not write its history here, you can read it on Wikipedia.

The biggest Sokol event is the Všesokolský slet - All Sokol Meeting, which will be held in Prague in the first week of July. But regional rallies precede the national rally, and the Olomouc region had a rally in Přerov this time.

In the first article of the two I will give you a closer look at the atmosphere of the festive parade that went from T. G. Masaryk Square to the town stadium, which then had its own program, i.e. the practice of all the compositions that will be performed at the All-Sokol rally in Prague. So we saw on a small scale everything that would take place in the first week of July.

In the parade walked the male and female gymnasts who then performed their skills in the compositions in the stadium. And there were two and a half thousand of them. In fact, I can't remember if there's been a massive parade in our town in the last 35 years. Flags, banners, military music... There was a sense of pride in this parade - for their country, for their organisation, for their brothers and sisters, for themselves.

The Sokols (Falcons in English) are great.

Tělocvičný spolek Sokol byl založen v roce 1862 a je to největší a nejúspěšnější organizace svého druhu u nás. Nebudu zde psát jeho historii, tu si můžete přečíst na wikipedii.

Největší sokolskou akcí je všesokolský slet, který bude v Praze první týden v červenci. Celostátnímu sletu ale předchází krajské slety, a olomoucký kraj měl tentokrát slet v Přerově.

V prvním článku ze dvou vám přiblížím atmosféru slavnostního průvodu, který šel z náměstí T. G. Masaryka na městský stadión, na kterém pak byl vlastní program, tj. cvičení všech skladeb, které budou k vidění na všesokolském sletu v Praze. Takže jsme v malém měřítku viděli vše, co se pak bude první červencový týden odehrávat.

V průvodu šli cvičenci a cvičenky, kteří pak předváděli své umění ve skladbách na stadiónu. A bylo jich dva a půl tisíce. Vlastně ani nepamatuju, jestli za posledních 35 roků v našem městě byl podobný mohutný průvod. Vlajky, prapory, vojenská hudba... ale jestli se někdo chce zeptat, jestli mi to připomnělo prvomájové průvody minulého režimu, tak to teda vůbec. V tomto průvodu byla cítit hrdost - na svou vlast, na svou organizaci, na své bratry a sestry, na sebe samotné.

Sokolové jsou super.
