The Moravian Gate is a wide valley connecting Přerov and Ostrava. It is bounded to the northwest by the Oder Mountains, to the southeast by the Hostýn Mountains and the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy Mountains. The Moravian Gate has been an important communication route since prehistoric times. It was part of the so-called Amber Road. In the 19th century, a railway was built there - the Emperor Ferdinand Northern Railway, which is still part of an important European railway corridor.
The southern part of the Moravian Gate, near Lipník nad Bečvou, has been guarded since the Middle Ages by two castles: Helfštýn and Drahotuš. Drahotuš is almost extinct, but Helfštýn still stands on the hill. And the following photos are from the ramparts of Helfštýn.
Moravská brána je široké údolí, spojující Přerov a Ostravu. Severozápadně je ohraničená Oderskými vrchy, od jihovýchodu Hostýnskými vrchy a Moravskoslezskými Beskydy. Už od pravěku byla Moravská brána důležitou komunikační trasou. Byla součástí tzv. Jantarové stezky. V 19. století tam byla postavena železnice - Severní dráha císaře Ferdinanda, která je i dnes součástí důležitého evropského železničního koridoru.
Jižní část Moravské brány, u Lipníka nad Bečvou, střežily od středověku dva hrady: Helfštýn a Drahotuš. Drahotuš se zřícenina téměř zaniklá, ale Helfštýn se na kopci tyčí dodnes. A z hradeb Helfštýna jsou následující fotky.
During the photo shoot the sun was shining on the hill, but the valley was full of fog. The first photo is looking southwest, towards Přerov. The town on the lower edge, behind the trees, is Týn nad Bečvou, the town on the left is Lipník nad Bečvou. Přerov is not visible, it is in the fog on the horizon.
The second photo shows practically the same thing, but the Hostýnské vrchy (Hostýn Hills) also stand out from the fog in the middle left.
Při focení totiž na kopci svítilo sluníčko, ale údolí bylo plné mlhy. Na první fotce je pohled jihozápadním směrem, k Přerovu. Městečko na dolním okraji, za stromy, je Týn nad Bečvou, město vlevo je Lipník nad Bečvou. Přerov není vidět, je v mlze na obzoru.
Druhá fotka zobrazuje prakticky totéž, ale vlevo uprostřed vystupují z mlhy i Hostýnské vrchy.
The next photo is a view in the opposite direction, to the northeast. On the left are the Oder Hills, behind which is the Libava military area. Below the hills you can see the villages of Milenov and Hrabůvka, on the right horizon in the fog you can't see Hranice.
Další fotka je pohled opačným směrem, na severovýchod. Vlevo jsou Oderské vrchy za kterými se skrývá vojenský prostor Libavá. Pod kopci jsou vidět vesnice Milenov a Hrabůvka, vpravo na obzoru v mlze nejsou vidět Hranice.
As I wrote at the beginning, the combination of the sun on the hill and the fog in the valley created an interesting effect that I couldn't miss. I'd like to enter some of these photos in #aroundtheworld, but I can't decide. So I'll choose... maybe the first one.
Jak jsem psal na začátku, kombinace slunce na kopci a mlhy v údolí vytvořila zajímavý efekt, který jsem si nemohl nechat ujít. Některou z těchto fotek bych chtěl poslat do #aroundtheworld, ale nemůžu se rozhodnout. Tak vyberu... třeba tu první.
