Alberobello

Alberobello es un pueblo muy pequeño que forma parte de La Puglia, Italia, una región conocida por muchas personas por ser increíblemente hermosa y única debido a la gran cantidad de diversidad en sus paisajes... y algunas otras cosas también.

Alberobello se ha vuelto increíblemente popular en los últimos años, principalmente debido a las imágenes que se subieron a Instagram y se volvieron virales. Así que ahí fui, tratando de averiguar si eso era real o no. Si hubiera un montón de casas que se vieran así y no solo una o dos... y diablos, estaba equivocado, era un lugar increíblemente hermoso. Sin duda, una de las cosas más impresionantes y maravillosas que he visto hasta ahora.

Alberobello is the village that's famous for its trullo, or trulli in plural. So you might be wondering:

What are trulli?

Trulli are the little and whity houses that you get to see in the pictures. They look really, really cute! But aside from that, it's one of the most prehistorical architectures that can be found and that still remain incredibly well preserved. It's a very typical rural architecture from that specific region of Italy, which was built entirely with rocks and their typical pyramidal roofs.

Alberobello es el pueblo que es famoso por su trullo, o trulli en plural. Así que te estarás preguntando:

¿Qué son los trulli?

Trulli son las casitas blancas que se ven en las fotos. ¡Se ven muy, muy lindos! Pero aparte de eso, es una de las arquitecturas más prehistóricas que se pueden encontrar y que aún se conservan increíblemente bien. Es una arquitectura rural muy típica de esa región específica de Italia, que fue construida completamente con rocas y sus típicos techos piramidales.

That's me in the last picture! I'm not precisely tall, I'm 1.60m, but there you can see how small these are. I could touch the roof of that trullo with my own hands!

What I also found interesting about this place is that there's no standard height or dimension for the trulli, you could see all sorts of them and with different heights.

¡Esa soy yo en la última foto! No soy precisamente alto, mido 1,60m, pero ahí podéis ver lo pequeños que son estos. ¡Podría tocar el techo de ese trullo con mis propias manos!

Lo que también me pareció interesante de este lugar es que no hay una altura o dimensión estándar para los trulli, puedes ver todo tipo de ellos y con diferentes alturas.

Alberobello and trulli were named as one of UNESCO's world heritage after realizing that some of these construction were made beofre 1000 BC. Amazing, right? You can also find some other examples of this huts in Rhineland, Germany, as the result of immigration from Puglia.

These trulli are home to many italians and you can even live the full Alberobello experience and stay overnight in one of them. They are between 60 and 90 euros per night and there are a lot of B&B that would love to host you there.

Alberobello y trulli fueron nombrados patrimonio mundial de la UNESCO después de darse cuenta de que algunas de estas construcciones se realizaron antes del año 1000 a. Increíble, ¿verdad? También puede encontrar algunos otros ejemplos de estas cabañas en Renania, Alemania, como resultado de la inmigración de Puglia.

Estos trulli son el hogar de muchos italianos e incluso puedes vivir la experiencia completa de Alberobello y pasar la noche en uno de ellos. Están entre 60 y 90 euros la noche y hay muchos B&B a los que les encantaría alojarte allí.

As you may have seen in the first picture of this post, which is by far my favourite photo, there were some trulli that had a painted sign in the roof. There are meaning to all this signs depending on what the trullo was for or to bring fortune to the home.

Como habréis visto en la primera foto de este post, que es por mucho mi foto favorita, había unos trullos que tenían un cartel pintado en el techo. Todos estos signos tienen un significado dependiendo de para qué fue el trullo o para traer fortuna al hogar.

Algunas de las señales que se pueden encontrar en los trullos son las siguientes:

Some of the trulli are empty, some of them are inhabitated by locals while other can be rented to spend the night... and some others have been decorated specifically in order to sell memories and magnets to tourists!

Algunos de los trulli están vacíos, algunos están habitados por lugareños, otros se pueden alquilar para pasar la noche... ¡y algunos otros han sido decorados específicamente para vender recuerdos e imanes a los turistas!

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much of this place. I though it was just a place that people wanted to show off in Instagram and that was it... but then, when I got there, I immediately fell in love with it.

There's such a lovely atmosphere in that place, everything seems and feels so magical. You're incredibly happy while lurking through the different places that the village has to offer.

I got the chance of getting inside one of the trulli and it was amazing how small and well-connected everything was. It was completelly worth it to leave really early to make it to the bus... and then, getting back to Bari.

Para ser honesto, no esperaba mucho de este lugar. Pensé que era solo un lugar que la gente quería mostrar en Instagram y eso fue todo... pero luego, cuando llegué allí, inmediatamente me enamoré de él.

Hay una atmósfera tan encantadora en ese lugar, todo parece y se siente tan mágico. Eres increíblemente feliz mientras acechas los diferentes lugares que el pueblo tiene para ofrecer.

Tuve la oportunidad de entrar en uno de los trullos y fue increíble lo pequeño y bien comunicado que estaba todo. Valió completamente la pena salir muy temprano para llegar al autobús... y luego, volver a Bari.
