I don't usually do a lot of macro photography, but sometimes I find something that I want to photograph in a way that allows me to tell a story with a different perspective.
This is the case of these small hermit crabs, they have always fascinated me, and although some of them can reach a size close to that of a golf ball, it is the smallest that are most attractive, due to their shells with different designs and colors. . However, being so small (less than half an inch) it was difficult to achieve acceptable photos. So I decided to use my only macro lens, my humble 70-300 f 4-5.6 sigma lens. It doesn't have the best sharpness, but it does its job in an acceptable way. This allowed me to get a little closer to the world of small crabs, I just needed to throw myself to the ground and start the session.
It was not easy, depending on their temperament, they can be extremely shy or very elusive. I had to be patient, and wait for them to come out of their shells and to be lucky that they walked towards the place I had planned (most of the time they ran in the opposite direction) But in the end, after many blurry photos and unsuccessful attempts I managed what he was looking for, to get a little closer to his perspective of the world.
