Hello Everyone,
Yesterday I along with my two cousins decided to go in search of the Black Himalayan Bear in outskirts of Manali Himachal Pradesh. Weather was kind of sunny and Cloudy which was best for a day hike like this.
So at 7 am in the morning we started hiking up from the road to the mountain where we could find the Black Himalayan Bear.
We hiked for about three hours and reached above the NTZ Zone (Non Tropical Zone) where no vegetation grows except grass and wild flowers.
View from the top of the Mountain
So we reached at the top of the mountain at 10am of continue hiking from 7am in the morning.
The snow-covered peak blessed with spectacular and scenic ambiance created a unique charm.
We decided to go further as, The Black Himalayan Bear lives so far away from the place where humans live as Encroachment of human population, forest fires and the timber industries, have all reduce the bears' habitat and there is also a high mortality rate among the newborn. And even though hunting of the Himalayan black bear has been forbidden since 1977, there is still a large problem with poaching.
So we decided to hike more through the green scenic Meadows.
The Black Himalayan Bear is considered as a rare species of Bears in the whole world and i was so excited to see it with my eyes for the first time.
They are omnivorous creatures and will eat just about anything. Their diet consists of acorns, nuts, fruit, honey, roots, and various insects such as termites and beetle larvae. If food is scarce, they may turn to eating livestock such as sheep, goats, and cattle.
While Hiking for several hours we encounterd a huge mountain of rocks as you can see in the picture above.
According to the history these rocks were once a fort of an ancient king of this place as these are only at this place and rest all other place is grass meadows with not even a single stone.
After crossing the huge mountain of rocks we saw that we have reached the snow line as in this picture you can that how close we were of the snow.
It was a good sign for us as The Black Himalayan Bear lives in this kind of climate.
Himalayan black bears have a black coat with a light brown muzzle and a pale yellow crescent on their chest. On average, they measure from 56 to 65 inches nose to tail and weigh from 200 to 265 pounds, though they may weigh as much as 400 pounds in the fall when they are fattening up for hibernation. They are diurnal by nature, though the majority of them have become nocturnal in order to avoid humans. They often spend the day in caves or hollowed out trees.
And finally we reached the meadows which were totally covered up with snow!
What a lovely view it was, in the above picture you can see my cousins enjoying walking up here!
Nothing could be as peaceful as walking through these heavenly trails, in these snow covered mountains.
Till now we did not encountered any Black Himalayan Bear, It was so sad for us as we were walking from 6 hours continuously and were so tired.
But Walking through this dreamy location made us feel so fresh and positive.
This place is so beautiful as you can see the view here is so dreamy and magical. Why would someone ever miss a chance to go here? As far as i was able to look i could only see beautiful mountains and everytime i closed my eyes i would feel the cold breeze passing my ears and making me feel alive.
Finally Encountered A Black Himalayan Bear !
While walking through these snowy meadows I noticed a a huge black black coated animal with a light brown muzzle and a pale yellow crescent on its chest. It was so far away from us as you can see in the picture above, as we ran closer to it, The Black Himalayan Bear just ran away in a quick haste.
After running behind The Black Himalayan it just vanished away, i got really disappointed. That I didn't got any chance to capture the close photograph of The Black Himalayan Bear today to show to you guys.
But honesty i had a very good time walking and hiking so close to the nature and captured some beautiful heavenly photographs for you guys.
Hope you enjoyed
Thankyou For Passing By
