I spend a lot of time at sea.
The wind, the waves, the tide - you are surrounded by just nature. Often times, specially if I took long sails, the only life you see are fishes like dolphins or the occasional flying fish. These are always a highlight but very very hard to get a good photo of. I always thought getting a dolphin jumping in front of a sunset is a one in a million opportunity and thus far I did not succeed.
But if you are coming closer to any land
you start to see birds. Some are flying very close to the water. Often it seems that they fly within the waves and you just have to stare at this creature doing it things. Its these moments that make me appreciate nature even more. Be in the moment, be one and just enjoy. If I could remember
where and when I have taken this one, I would tell you. Sometimes, especially if you took thousands of photos I forget where and when this particular one was but none the less: I find it quite spectacular :)The lovely beaches of Terschelling
-an Island in the Netherlands. If you are a bird watcher, I think you should visit at least one time. The beaches are full of all kind of birds. The small ones, the big ones and all coexist beautifully. So you not only can enjoy a sunset, the beach but also all the animals that mother nature created.Another Dutch island, another sunset and more birds.
I have the feeling that sea gulls are always on the hunt, always observing and then stealing what they can. I made several tests on how fast sea gulls can appear out of the blue. The test is easy: Throw some bread in the water and count the seconds. Regardless of where I was. It almost never took more than 30 seconds to have at least one gull. And be sure, if there is one, there are plenty 10 seconds later. We were at anchor
and I got the trusty old tripod out, attached the camera and hold it upside down over the lifeline and was taking this photo with my mobile app. I just love to be very close to water with the camera. Actually I do hate it but high risk, high reward I was telling me since years. This was till the point that I wrecked on of my cameras this way... Anyhow, quite lucky with that shot! Thanks for checking out this post!
