Some years ago the township of Almelo thought it was time to built a new city hall. I remember the people of Almelo thought it was just absurd to build a new one since the current one was perfectly fine. The reason why was that millions of euros from the taxpayer would go into the building. Oh well, I didn't mind, and even now, I wouldn't mind. As a matter of fact, I was quite excited to see the new city hall. It's design was modern and new. The details in the building were a bit... questionable. I mean, the color of Almelo has always been blue, but somehow, the architect thought it was a good idea to paint a big part of the building red. Especially where the crest of Almelo would go. Almelo has a rich history of construction. There used to be canals going through the city, which later were closed due to mobility, right now, they decided after all these years to open up these canals again. Rumor has it, this would cost millions and millions of tax-paying money, so you can think about the commotion the plans brought with it.
While I've taken photographs of the building before, during the day, I thought it would be great to be taking a photograph of the building at night as well. I love how these photographs turned out, as I could finally do more long-exposure photography again.

To crop, or not to crop?
I enjoy making these compositions within my photographs. Especially because I'm not used to cropping my photographs (other than straightening) as I aim to shoot and spend time on pure compositions. What about you? Do you crop your photographs afterward?
Cheers,
Ruben
