_{This may be one of the best shots I ever took of a Sunflower. When I was photographing a wedding in Marbella, Spain, there should've been fields full of Sunflowers. It was one of the main reasons the bride and groom wanted to get wed in this specific location. It was a huge hacienda with much space. Little did we know, there was just one field of Sunflowers left at the time when we got there. The bride was a bit disappointed because she was hoping to see a lot more fields full of Sunflowers. You can only imagine how she felt when she found out most of the Sunflowers that were still around, had spent their glory days before her arrival. I felt so lucky to have found and taken this photograph. Because I remember I just went outside to do a light-check outside. I just stumbled upon the Sunflower and took my chances. She surely was surprised to see this photograph on the last page of their wedding album.}

_{In post-production, there wasn't much to do other than color-correcting and minor clean-up. What we (the videographer and I) noticed when we arrived in Marbella, was the difference between the Spanish and Dutch skies. "You won't see this in the Netherlands", he said. Perfect blue skies, little to no clouds, and a hot burning Sun on your back. The water droplets on the Sunflower are just the magical last touch and everything this photograph needed to make it a bit more dramatic.}

What does a Sunflower symbolise?

The bride told me that a Sunflower was a personal, and important symbol to her. In many cultures it symbolizes loyalty. Which makes perfectly sense in a wedding-setting.

"Sunflower meanings include happiness, optimism, honesty, longevity, peace, admiration, and devotion. The sunflower possibly surpasses all others in terms of its universal power to bring joy to people. _source
