This boat is one of the most famous boats in Almelo! It's well-known as the "Pannekoekenboot", which means... Pancake boat! The boat is super old and has always been a home to many restaurants, including several pancake restaurants. I remember going here when I was a little kid, as pancakes were my favorite meal. If you don't like pancakes, or ever liked them, you should go see a doctor find out what's wrong with you. Lol. I love pancakes, and I still do. took me to a next-level pancake restaurant for my birthday two months ago.
Anyway, this photograph was picked up by some restaurants, asking me if they could use it for their advertising. Sure, why not? Some asked me to print it on photo paper so they could hang it in their home. That's pretty awesome, right? I remember cycling through Almelo with my camera because I had just gotten back from a photo session. The Sunset was quite amazing, and it certainly was probably worth taking photographs of. At least, that's what I thought until I cycled across the bridge. I saw the boat, the Sunset, and the reflection of the clouds in perfect still and calm water. I stopped as fast as I could and took this snapshot and cycled back home.
I was eager to edit my photographs of the job I had, and this photograph ended up on the pile of other photographs that I needed to edit. It took me some time to finally get this photograph right so I could publish it. Still, it is one of my favorite photographs that I took in Almelo. Very iconic. Very timeless, yet recognizable (for those who know the pancake boat in Almelo).

Do you have any photographs that only locals recognize?
When we see a photograph of the Pyramids of Giza, we all know it's located in Egypt. The same goes for many other iconic buildings. But, there are certain photographs only locals can identify themselves with. For example, I photographed a rock in the water and the locals asked me if I could print it out for them... Do you have any photographs that only the locals recognize?
Cheers,
Ruben
