Today, after weeks of Thai food, we hit that familiar wall — the moment when you look at each other in the evening and ask, “So… what do we even eat?”
By pure chance, we spotted Taco Bell. I kept staring at the sign, trying to remember where I knew it from. A movie? Some old commercial? The name definitely rang a bell (no pun intended).
I suggested we go for some unapologetically unhealthy fast food. No one objected.
Location & First Impression
This particular Taco Bell was located at a large gas station. From the outside it looked promising, but inside it turned out to be tiny — just two small tables and a narrow counter along the wall. More like a quick stop than a place to sit and relax.
Still, we were already committed.
What We Ordered
We chose two combo meals:
- Tacos Double Crispy Chicken
- Grilled Stuft Burrito
Each combo came with a drink — we went with Coke Zero.
The wait was about 10 minutes. Just enough time for anticipation to build. When the food arrived, I barely managed to snap one quick photo before my family descended on it like seagulls at the beach.
Family dinner rules: hesitation equals starvation.
Double Crispy Chicken Taco
I started with the Double Crispy Chicken.
The filling itself was decent — nothing extraordinary, but solid fast food. The real disappointment was the shell. I expected something crunchy and satisfying, but instead it felt soft, almost cotton-like, and completely neutral in taste.
Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be. Maybe it’s just the Thai version. I honestly don’t know. But it definitely wasn’t what I had imagined.
Grilled Stuft Burrito
Next came the Grilled Stuft Burrito, and this one was noticeably better.
The tortilla was grilled, which gave it some texture — though again, it lacked flavor. Inside, there was a generous amount of filling… and a generous amount of rice.
Living in Thailand, I see rice every single day. At some point, you just don’t want it inside your burrito too.
The Unexpected Winner
Surprisingly, the best part of the meal turned out to be the chips included in the combo. They were served with three different sauces, and that simple combination actually delivered the most satisfying flavors of the evening.
Our child loved everything. We, on the other hand, were a bit underwhelmed.
The Bill & Final Thoughts
The total came to 478 THB (~$15.41).
Will we return to Taco Bell?
Probably not.
But honestly, that’s not the point. The food might not have impressed us, yet the spontaneous decision, the small table, the chaotic photo attempt, and the shared laughs made it worth it.
Sometimes it’s not about the taste — it’s about the moment!
