Hello everyone!
I already told you a little about Ramayana Water Park — probably the biggest and most impressive water park in Thailand. It is located near Pattaya, around two hours from Bangkok, and honestly, it feels more like a tropical resort than just a place with water slides.
The park opened in 2016 and quickly became one of the largest water parks in Southeast Asia. The territory is enormous, surrounded by green hills, lakes, palm trees, and jungle scenery. Everything is designed around ancient Thai mythology and the Ramakien legends, so while walking through the park you constantly see ruins, statues, caves, and decorations that make the whole place feel like a lost city hidden somewhere deep in the tropics.
There are more than twenty attractions there: huge slides, lazy rivers, wave pools, children’s zones, relaxing pools, and areas where you can simply sit in the shade and cool down from the Thai heat. Some rides are absolutely crazy and clearly made for adrenaline lovers, while others are much calmer and perfect for families.
What impressed me most was how organized and clean everything felt. Even with a huge number of visitors, the park never seemed chaotic or overcrowded. Somehow there was always enough space, enough loungers, and enough quiet corners to relax. Time disappears there incredibly fast — you arrive in the morning, and suddenly the sun is already beginning to set.
This trip became a little special for me because my older son flew over to Thailand for New Year holidays and stayed for twenty days. I had prepared a whole entertainment program for both of my sons, but as some of you already know, my younger son broke his leg on January 2nd.
So this time, only the two of us went to the water park.
In the morning, the weather looked terrible. The sky was gray, there were heavy clouds, and light rain was falling. For a moment, I thought maybe we should cancel the trip, but we decided to go anyway — and luckily, we made the right decision.
By the time we arrived, the sky had completely changed. Bright sunshine, blue sky, heat… not even a trace of the morning rain remained. That’s Thailand for you. The weather here can change three times in a single day, and sometimes it feels completely unpredictable.
Naturally, our adventure started not with the slides, but with food.
My son absolutely loves eating, especially on vacation, and honestly, I didn’t want to limit him too much during the holidays. Burgers, fries, snacks, ice cream, sweet drinks — the full tourist survival kit. Of course, now we’re trying to be much stricter about healthy eating again, but while traveling together, sometimes those small moments become part of the memories too.
The slides in Ramayana are divided into several difficulty levels — from completely harmless family rides to attractions that look like they were designed to test your courage and your nervous system at the same time.
We chose something in the middle.
Enough speed to scream a little, laugh a lot, and still survive without regretting our life choices afterward.
The territory itself impressed my son even more than the rides. The park is so large and diverse that we didn’t even manage to visit every area during the entire day. But honestly, that didn’t matter much.
What mattered was simply spending this time together.
He is only thirteen years old, and this trip became his very first completely independent flight. He was incredibly proud of himself for managing everything alone — the airport, the passport control, the boarding gates, all of it.
Of course, before the trip I explained everything to him in detail:
which documents to carry, what to say at passport control, where to go inside the airport, how not to get lost, and what to do in different situations.
Still, doing it alone for the first time is stressful even for adults, so I know it was a big step for him.
And honestly… he handled it perfectly.
Watching him become more confident and independent was probably even more enjoyable for me than the water park itself. Years pass so quickly, children grow up before you even notice it, and moments like these suddenly become much more valuable than any attraction or vacation photo.
I really hope he remembers this trip for a long time.
