Camping in the depths of the mountains, with only a handful of tent spots available? Sounds like the perfect birthday to me.
Musical bumps is a trail in Whistler Canada known for just that, “bumps”. You technically summit multiple mountains, go up and down- until you reach the final destination.
It was right in the July heat when we could secure a tentpad and we started off by accidentally going the long way. This particular route is beautiful, but longer which is why we initially did not want to take it.
Determined to reach the spot, I felt the drive to power through with little breaks. This is a long one, and I wanted to enjoy the campsite and get farther away from the beginning of the trail where the people were.
I ached for that quiet I knew we were going to have out there.
Some hikes are hard on you physically, mentally, both. I like sharing them because I think the human spirit is more powerful than we give credit to. With the heat on our backs and shoes wearing thin we made it to the beautiful home for the night.
I started to get a migraine and took a quick nap at the base. With a bit of rest we spent some time exploring around.
The struggle endured to get to magical places are the adventures I remember the most.
And even in these struggles and ups and downs.. This is where I feel most alive and at peace.
Cheers,
Sara
