Are you ready to sail
It's cold outside. I can't go out for a walk. The air is also polluted. I still have a lot of ships that I haven't published, but this is definitely the weirdest I've seen, I can't describe its shape, except to say it's weird. He is beautiful at the same time, and somehow likable. I tried to photograph it from as many sides as possible, because it is made in detail, and it looks like it will sail at any moment.
About this strange ship
Due to the strong queen of the river, the Danube was mostly navigated only downstream. All these vessels, when they arrived at their destination, were mostly dismantled and sold as timber for construction, and were called "nevrati."
Due to historical events, a large migration of people started from Ulm in the south, towards our region, where the Germans reached Kosovo. They traveled by ships, Ulm boxes. they were mostly artisans, who gave everything they had for the ticket. The only hope left for them was that wherever they got, they would get better.
The Ulm box is a ship, flat bottom, without keel, 40 meters long. They were of different shapes with bows and stern. In general, it is a large boat with a house in the middle, to accommodate passengers. There were two long oars at the bow and stern to steer the ship, because the force of the mother river carried the ship. The similarity with our shipbuilders is that the holes between the side boards were closed with moss, and that job was done by our shopkeepers.
On the side, at the stern and bow, there are a couple of gallows to help approach the shore, because they sailed exclusively during the day. The ships traveled in convoys. There was no interference between the crew, sailors and passengers. There was a strict limit in authority, so crew decisions had to be enforced without discussion. Usually there were 30-40 people on board. At the time when Hungary attracted a large number of immigrants, especially in 1768 and 1769, there used to be up to 150 people on board.
There were ships to transport people, cattle, groceries.
the ship was painted in black and white on ordinary sides, in the city of Ulm. By the way, only the caulking of the city of Ulm had the right to build these ships.
After reaching the end point of the voyage, the ship was disassembled into planks, which were then sold as material.
I hope you enjoyed this post. I enjoyed making it and sharing it with you fulfills me in a way. Greetings until the next post. I wish you a lot of love and happiness, Sara.
