After a paid photo shoot this morning, I took a walk over to Donner Lake with the camera to see what I could see. Surprise! The shoreline had iced up last night and the wind and the waves broke it up, creating a jagged, sharp pile of ice that made for a great photo. I really like it when the ice creates photogenic scenes like this that only last a short while before it melts.
If you look in the distance of this top photo, there is a snow storm rolling in. It started to snow right after I shot this photo. And it kept snowing. And it's still snowing... lol. I love it and it's great to finally see a decent amount of snow piling up around town. I just shot the photo below about 20 minutes ago, not too far from where the top photo was shot. What a difference a few hours can make!
Both of these photos were shot with the Canon 5DS R. The top photo was with the 16-35mm lens, set at 16mm. The photo below was with a 24-105mm lens, set at 85mm. Both shots were handheld with no lens filters.
Which is your favorite? The icy shoreline photo, or the snowy snow photo?
I love the snow, so I've been walking around with a big grin on my face this afternoon. Thanks for looking and I hope you are all having a great day as well!
