Yesterday had a slow start, but then I got a call from a buddy who was heading out to ice fish on Prosser Reservoir in Truckee, California for the afternoon. "Yes! I'll join you!"
The weather was just about perfect, gloves were not needed until late in the day. There were a few other groups of fisherman on the ice but everybody was nice and spread out, it almost felt like we had the place to ourselves. A few fish were caught and good times were had.
I didn't take many photos with the Canon 5DSr, but here are a couple cool shots. This crack in the ice appears to have broken and refrozen may times. We decided it might make a nice "skylight" for the fish and they might be able to see our lures better so we drilled our fishing holes next to it.
The photos above were shot on a Canon 5DSr with a 24-105mm lens. ISO 200, 1/200 of a second exposure, and an aperture of f/18. Both were handheld shots and no filters were used.
Quill dog had a great time out on Prosser. I did lay down a wool blanket for him but he preferred laying on the ice. Really, he was running around exploring most of the time but when he did relax, it was rarely on the blanket. The ice was about a foot thick so I wasn't worried about letting him take off.
My buddy Blake is quite the fisherman. I have gone out with him on his nice fishing boat many times over the years. He actually has a Youtube fishing channel, here it is if you're curious (I believe a video from yesterday will soon be on the channel...) Pisces Outdoors Youtube Channel
Another great day in paradise! Thank you for looking and I hope you all have a "cool" day out there!
