While getting ready to head out to run some errands this morning, I saw that there was a rainbow visible from my driveway. Sweet! So I grabbed my camera gear, tossed it into my ride, and headed out with no real plans to shoot.
On my way to deliver a print order to a local customer, I noticed the rainbow again. Detour! It looked like it it might be at the right angle for a good shot of Downtown Truckee, California, and it was. It actually kept getting better while I was at the lookout spot above town. I put the camera gear away twice and brought it out twice as the rainbow kept disappearing then reappearing even more vibrant that previously. These photos below are a couple of the last ones I shot. After these, I knew I had what I wanted so it was off to finish my errands.
The photo above is a stitched panoramic photo, 9 horizontal photos stitched together in Adobe Photoshop's photomerge feature. Shot with a Canon 5DS R and a 24-105mm lens set at 40mm. The ISO was 50, the aperture was f/18, and the shutter speed was 1/8 of a second for each of the exposures. A tripod and a polarizing filter were used.
The photo below had similar settings but it was only one frame and the lens was set at 50mm.
Thank you for looking and I hope you are having a great day too!
