I shouldn't complain, I ended up with a nice photo that I'm happy with. But... The MySunset app that I use to forecast the color in the sky was wrong again. It predicted a very good sunrise, however there were hardly any clouds in the sky and it did not explode with color.
Fortunately, we did have a nice inversion and when the sun actually rose over the mountain, the sky on the horizon did warm up a bit. I ended up using two graduated neutral density filters on my lens to balance out the sky exposure with the bridge and inversion exposure.
It wasn't too chilly out, this location is only about a 20 minute drive from my house, and thanks to the daylight savings time change, I really wasn't that tired. Another great morning in Truckee, California!
Shot with a Canon 5DS R and a 24-105mm lens, set at 35mm. The ISO was 50, the aperture was f/22, and it was a 1.6 second exposure. Two graduated neutral density filters were used, as well as a tripod and shutter release cable.
The fog rolled in a bit thick so I paused for a selfie, a little bit before the photo above. I might end up working on the "heart tree" photo, we'll see...
Thanks for looking, I hope you all have a great day too!
