Twice in one week! Yes, I got out fishing again yesterday. This time it was for some ice fishing at a local high elevation lake that is often one of the first lakes to freeze over in my area. The weather was warmer than I expected, which was great. I've been on this lake in the past when it was snowing and super cold. The sun was shining and the jacket and gloves came off. I was out there with three buddies. We each caught a couple fish each, it was a successful day on the hard water!
I shot these first three photos with the Canon 5DS R and a 16-35mm wide angle lens, but most of the photos were shot with the cell phone. Fishing was the priority and the phone is just so quick and convenient.
This device above releases when the fish bites the lure, the rod snaps up and the hook is set in the fish. It allows you to easily have two rods in the water and you can leave it, and run over and get any caught fish without loosing them. It worked very well!
This was my fishing hole for the day. I ended up pulling two rainbow trout out of it. Not bad, I was happy!
Here's some phone photos below, of some of our catches.
Ben and a nice male rainbow trout. The red color on the gills was impressive.
Blake of Pisces Outdoors is an incredible fisherman, he is a fishing guide and his serves can be booked through www.piscesoutdoors.com. I always learn a ton when I get out fishing with him, he love to share his knowledge.
And the selfies. Alright, they weren't truly selfies... Blake shot these for me.
Fun times!!! I do love ice fishing. It's such an incredibly relaxing way to fish and a great way to get outdoors and enjoy some sunshine this time of year.
Thank you for looking and I hope you all have also been having some great adventures lately!
