Time to visit St. James Park
This park is just by the Buckingham Palace and it is one of the most beautiful and central parks in London. You better be ready to see a lot of awesome views, plants, flowers and a great variety of birds.
I took the whole afternoon just to walk around and appreciate all the beauty that this park have to offer. And that's what I am going to focus on showing you in here.
Named after The Princess of Wales
The walk in this park was also named after the Princess Diana disaster and death. They named it The Princess Diana of Wales Memorial Walk, since it is said that it was one of the favourite places where Diana would like to come for a walk.
I remember that this was also very polemic because we all know that the media always painting a very ugly relationship between Diana and all the Royals, specially after the divorce. So having this named after Diana was kind of a kick in the balls for the Royal Family and even if it happen it is famously known that the Royal Family was not really happy with it.
When you walk around the park you will get to see a lot of lakes, some of them are all connected and that have made it a great house for a lot of bird species.
In between the trees you will be able to see some of the most famous landmarks in London. Here for example you can see the Big Ben from afar, while the swans just keep going with their life on the lake.
Even when I kept walking deeper inside the park and getting closer this view doesn't disappoint. It will only get you more mesmerized.
Peaking through the bushes and trees you will also be able to catch your eye and see the Buckingham Palace from certain points of this walk in the park.
I feel that when I am walking in St. James Park I could almost be part of the Royal Family and I am just out and about in my daily walk in my own private gardens.
This scene specifically always leave me breathless. It always feel like something from a magical era, almost like this view is frozen in time. Always waiting for some magical fairies to come out of the bushes and start flying all around.
You come for the beautiful scenes, the beautiful birds but you will also be able to enjoy another very interesting race of animals. And that are the Human race, because this place doesn't only attract many Londoners on daily basis but also a lot of tourists.
And the interesting part is to see how they live this park experience completely differently. You can easily see the ones that are tourists and the ones that live in the city.
So when visiting St. James Park you should not only do some bird watching but give it a go and do some Human watching, it is very interesting to see how differently people behave.
The Park can get really busy but it is also not too difficult to find some parts that are a little bit more empty and quiet. I had a sit and just absorbed all the good vibes around. Took some time to check some of the photos I have taken and to just chill and relax for a little bit.
Because sometimes this places can be very overwhelming since that are so many people around.
At this point I am already on the other side of the Park and just by the Prime Minister house. As you can see here in the scene there are a lot of open grass areas where you can just sit or lay down if you want to enjoy the view around.
I almost call it a day and were about to walk to Trafalgar Square but instead I have decided to keep doing the walk and see the park on the other side.
The People you can see in the Park
You can see around also some information about the many types of birds you can find around the park and in all the lakes. As per say in many of the signs, you are not supposed to fed them but you will see a lot of people disrespecting that sign. And the only reason people should respect it is because you might be feeding them something that is not good for them.
I saw people feeding these birds with bacon crisps! I was shocked and thinking how do they think this is healthy for this animals?
On my way back I have decided to do some more People watching and I was able to find some nice scenes.
Maybe friends, maybe lovers just enjoying each other company under the beautiful Cherry Blossoms.
Families with their kids, showing them nature and also animals "in the wild". It is always very cute to see how kids are so happy to interact with the animals. But also be ready for a lot of noise and running. Because there are always a lot of families with kids in here.
Some of the birds are a little bit more shy and just like to be left alone and in their corner, in the end we are not that different. While some like to be out there getting all the attention, others just look for quieter areas of the park where there are not so many people to be constantly annoying them.
Walking around you will also find a couple of different quiosques like this one. Where you can get some ice creams, coffees and some pastries. So you don't have to leave the park to do it. But be ready to pay an hefty price for whatever they are selling.
This is central London and they know there's nothing around, so their prices are really jacked up.
In this visit by this one lake on the side of the Big Ben, this time unfortunately I was not able to see any of the pelicans, maybe this is their migration season, I am not sure. But these time I was not able to see any. But they are really beautiful birds. Let me know if you would like me to go back to try and get some images of these
Here you can see someone trying to get this beautiful bird to fly to his hand. And will the wait pay off?
I guess it did. Birds in the park are really used to the Human interaction and they get really close to you, they are very fearless when it comes to People. So of them can even get a little bit too saucy and aggressive at times.
I was going to include some more photos of the birds in this post but I thought it would be a better idea to compile all of them together in a separate post to share them with you and they will come all together. So I left here some just so you could see and soon I will upload a collection with all the birds I have captured while on this walk.
Wanted to keep the focus of this one on the walk and the views that you can get from he park.
Keep your eyes open for the new post with all the birds I have seen during this walk.
