The Pamir Mountains can be described in many words, but I would say their main characteristic is majesty. Under the bright sun or in the shade and dusk, I do not want to look away from them. I want to absorb these magnificent views and, sometimes, I dream of getting even closer to them — walking along the gorges between their spurs, climbing the slopes to the ridges and reaching the sharpest peaks and look at the world from a height.
As for the peaks, I am not a big climber and have never really aspired to it, but from what is available to an ordinary person, I try never to miss it. At a minimum, I try to capture the rugged beauty of the mountains.
This is especially emphasized in such weather, when the sun is almost covered by dense, gloomy clouds — and the mountains look even more mysterious when a random sunbeam illuminates some area in the general dusk.
One of the versions of the origin of the name Pamir is from the expression "roof of the earth" or "roof of the world". Being there, it's easy to believe. Most of the mountain system is located on the territory of Tajikistan, in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, where I visited and I still cannot forget these mountains.
It's better to watch the photos in high resolution.
