Good evening Hive family and all the photographers lovers around the world, what I got here for you all tonight is a question that keeps coming up from some of you wonderful people that come out and check out my posts, as well as my page. What Lens do I use and what body camera do I use. Well a few year's back my son didn't want his camera anymore, so I purchased from him for cheap and all I had was the Lens it came with, not a very good one and only up to 100mm. Been shooting with it for fun here and there though, doing not edits and basically shooting in auto. The body is a Cannon 60D and is about fifteen years old type product but a goodie to get that practice in but if you don't know, go mirroless if you buy, more pricey but it is the future. Fast forward to June of 2023 after hiking so much and only having my camera phone, I started bring this out and when I see wildlife, I could never get close. So I decided to do birds etc, set out to buying this lens right here, the Cannon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens. As far as I know this is one of the first ones that Cannon came out with I believe about fifteen years ago. For me I was looking to get at the least 400mm to get closer to the action but not trying to spend that money. As I searched and searched on OfferUp App, Watching many from $500-$1200 in range, I finally found a guy that wanted $400, so I countered his price at $300 and he decided lets do it. I did have to drive about an hour to get it but it was well worth it.
The reason why I got him down in price was the stabilizer button, it was gone and I was just hoping that it was broken but turned on, otherwise I wouldn't be able to hold it in hand, only on a tripod. Good thing it was on, for now I used this thing so much and has been a great purchase for me in my photography journey. When I first got it and after some use of it, I decided to buy a lens hood for it, such a necessary purchase and that was pretty cheap too, as well as it never came with a lens cover, so I bought one of those too. After awhile of just using the neck holder, started really messing with my neck and back, so I finally bought a Multi Camera Carrying Chest Harness, Professional Designed for Photo DSLR Cameras on eBay. I wasn't trying to buy the $150 type ones but found this person, with one for $30 or best offer, so I offered him $22, he said $28 and I came back at $25 shipped, as he excepted the offer and I was very happy. Another piece of equipment that I so needed and I am very happy with the product.
The top photo was taken when I first went out with the new lens at my local lake, it was taken with my camera phone as I sat there and had to take a break to eat some lunch. My local lake makes a great smash burger with wedge fries, a bit over cooked but to perfection in my opinion. The next four shot's, two but with the black and white I just took for this post, as the last one is when I actually brought the lens home the first day with no lens cover. As for the last photo, it is not mine but the photo I bought off eBay when purchasing the chest harness. I don't own it or claim I do but it show's this product perfectly but I suppose I can use it since I bought it off eBay. haha. Anyways, there it is and I figured this would make a good post to show you all what I use for my images. I will make another post later on of the next product I will be purchasing and why I have chose it for purchase. That will be awhile though, the funds aren't there to get it for awhile. I'm not going to talk about the good and the bad about this product, it is a great starter camera for anyone to start learning, so I'll leave it at that and not talk about the negative. Especially the price is perfect and I have been getting good images, its more about you, not the camera. The most important thing is to start learning your technique and do manual, not auto. Thank for stopping by my blog and post tonight, have a blessed one, appreciate you all and I hope you loved the post today.
Anyways appreciate everyone feedback hope you have enjoyed my shots and post today' thanks for stopping by, Have a blessed one and thank you for coming in and checking out my shot's of the day. Stay tuned and enjoy my future shots in the world of photography, thru my lens.
