It was a sunny morning with a dazzling sky and I had left early to go to the square. I hadn't had internet at home for a couple of days, and the phone company I was going to complain to was nearby. Besides, there was Wi-Fi in the square, and I planned to use it later to do some things I had to do.
Era una mañana soleada de cielo deslumbrante y yo había salido temprano para ir a la plaza. Tenía un par de días sin Internet en mi casa y por allí queda la empresa de telefonía a donde iba a hacer el reclamo. Además, en esta plaza hay wi-fi, y pensaba aprovecharlo luego para hacer varias cosas que tenía pendientes.
I waited in line for about half an hour to file a complaint, but nothing was resolved (as I expected), but they told me to come back the next day, and then I went wandering around the square to try and get a Wi-Fi signal. Under the shade of a large ceiba tree and other nearby trees, I finally connected.
Hice mi cola una media hora para el reclamo, no solucioné nada (como me imaginaba), pero me dijeron que volviera al día siguiente, y luego me fui a dar vueltas por la plaza para agarrar señal del wi-fi. Bajo la sombra de una gran ceiba y otros árboles vecinos, me conecté.
I sat down on one of the low walls surrounding the green areas. The internet was slow. Since it's a free signal, there were probably a lot of people connected, so I couldn't do everything I wanted. Oh well, I'd have to use up my data anyway 😆. So I gave up and started looking up, where I could hear the birds singing and the branches rustling in the wind.
Me senté en uno de los muritos que rodean las áreas verdes. Internet estaba lento. Como es una señal libre, quizás había mucha gente conectada, así que no pude hacer todo lo que quería. Ni modo, tendría que gastar mi saldo 😆. Entonces dejé eso y me puse a mirar hacia arriba, donde se oían los cantos de los pájaros y el sonido de las ramas movidas por el viento.
Then I realized that this was truly the connection I needed: fresh air, trees, nature... Those days without internet at home had stressed me out a bit, because unfortunately in today's world almost everything is done through a computer or a phone.
Entonces me di cuenta que en verdad esa era la conexión que necesitaba: aire fresco, árboles, naturaleza... Esos días sin Internet en mi casa me habían estresado un poco, porque lamentablemente en el mundo de hoy casi todo se hace a través de una computadora o un teléfono.
But ultimately, we're the ones who decide how much time we dedicate to those virtual connections. We should always prioritize real, organic things. What do you think?
