Even though I live far out in the country, I can still see signs of civilization passing by. Planes flying high up are spotted, and during sunset their jet streams light up the sky. Not sure where they are going, maybe passing over Virginia and going to another state. Or maybe they are going to land in the next city over. They are silent and very far away, probably 50 or more miles. But they show up well when the sun starts to go down.

Many of them are going in different directions, moving along high up I cannot hear them but only see.
These are mostly invisible unless you spot their jet stream during the day being so far away.
I bet their view of the sunset up there is pretty amazing.
As it sets at my home the light drops below the tree line and lights up some clouds with a pink hue.
Less and less planes can be seen as darkness approaches, but the best of the colors tend to come out in the sky right before dusk.
The pinks intensify, and give a show just before night time.
For the next few minutes the sky darkens, the stars come out and the last of the clouds can be spotted.
Some of the evergreen trees can be seen on the sky line, while others have completely lost their leaves.
It starts to get pretty chilly, so very soon I will stop taking images and go back inside the nice warm house.
Its hard to decide when to leave, I want to wait for the full sun set. But the wind chill made that difficult, but glad I got some pictures of the planes on the sunset. Amazing how much sky I can see here, and its always so blue and clear. And when there are clouds the sunsets can be pretty amazing.
Edit note: The original posted photos were a little too compressed for my liking, so I went back and reloaded some higher quality shots at a slightly higher file size.
