The onset of Christmas makes Indian market pretty vibrant. Once you go out you will the find the market place turns into Red & Green. The color Red reflect the Santa dresses and color Green reflect the Christmas Tree. Though we so not have the real pine 🌳 tree for the Christmas, still the artificial one were on high demand. The best things about the festival is that even though people are not aware of the actual tradition related with the festival, still they make sure to enjoy the time by bringing Christmas vibes into their surrounding.
There are many popular market in the big cities like Delhi, Bangalore or Mumbai but the smaller town too reflect the joy by being part of the occasion. The markets gear up for Christmas by becoming hubs for festive shopping, featuring vibrant decorations, special gifts item and plum cakes & sweets. Plum cake has a special 💖 place in my life the mere mention makes me nostalgic. On the Christmas eve, I went for a walk only to find the market is more focus on selling Christmas item. And the sight is just fabulous.
This one is a bakery shop selling all kind of packed item. But on Christmas is completely different. The small shop is completely covered with Santa caps and it looks fabulous.
The shop is heavily decorated with numerous red Santa hats hanging from the ceiling and displayed on a table. These caps are popular accessories for parties, office events, and casual wear during the holiday season. People buy Santa caps from the market primarily to embrace the festive spirit, spread holiday cheer, and participate in Christmas celebrations. The store has few Christmas tree for decoration too.
What attracted me was the amount of cakes kept at the back of Christmas tree. They were all queued up for sale. Freshly baked they are the symbol of Christmas. Christmas cakes are more than just dessert, they are edible traditions that embody the spirit of the season. People buy cakes for Christmas as a cherished tradition symbolizing warmth, sharing, and celebration. They buy for own consumption or for gifting others.
These woven baked cakes are sold at a price ranges of Rs.50 to Rs.200 ($.5 to $2). There are plum cakes with egg content and without egg content too. There are brownies too. People buy them as per their liking. The store too sell cream cakes which was well kept inside the transparent glass chambers.
I am fond of plum cakes, and never wanted to miss this opportunity to enjoy the deliciousness. These cakes are available only for a day, just to make festive occasion bright. After checking on with different item I picked up a small plum cakes for myself.
As shared in my earlier post, it reminds me of my childhood and some wonderful memory. This bring to wrapping up the post. Make sure to catch the festive magic before they close on.
In good faith - Peace!!
