This High mountain pass called Rohtang Laa is located at the elevation of around 3900mtrs (13058ft) From sea level. Rohtang menas "pile of corpses" or "Pile of Dead Bodies" as this name is given because of the people who lost there lives crossing this pass. It is famous for its scenic beauty in summers and also skiing in the time of winters. The Road has a beautiful scenic beauty high altitude passes and snow caped mountains.

The pass has a significant importance as it connects the district of kullu and district of lahul spiti. The Road is a high altitude ascent from Manali Town as the distance is around 40kms. Now the distance has been cut down due to the establishment of the worlds highest Tunnel called the Atal Tunnel build by the BRO which is about 9km which makes it the longest tunnel above 10000ft from sea level BRO (Border Road Organization) takes care of the Road as it is essential for the defence of the country to.
