Hello Hivers,
This is Pooja the bride! I'm thankful that i got the oppertunity to capture their Niqaah ceremony. In my older post i've already had about some aspects of the Niqaah ceremony. Today i'll try to talk about another thing, but before that let's just wonder the beauty of this Indian bride. Just see how much detailing there is. From necklackes and other bisoux jewellery to makeup... That's why it takes a bride almost 4 hours to get ready.
Here we have Shiefared, the groom. He is sitting and waiting for some rituals to start. What rituals? read below under the next photo.
So when the groom arrives at the house of the bride. The first thing is he has to sit down on a chair, accompanied by his brother-in-law (his best man). Then the mother of the bride gives him something to drink (most usual something sweet like coca cola) and gives him presents like money, ring, bracelet etc...
The meaning behind this is that the groom and his family is welcomed by them by offering drink and presents.
Portrait is what i love to do with brides. I just have to find a nice background like a curtain or so...
I hope you now know a little bit more about this ritual when the groom arrives and why he is offered drink. Follow me for more about weddings and more in Suriname.
With love,
Prasant Djewan
