Boats docked around Popes Island
I was thinking this morning how when I share shots of boats I see here in New Bedford, it is mostly commercial fishing boats at the port and around Popes Island, and sure there is a lot of them, but also there are a few marinas for personal boats and that's what I will focus on today, mostly around Popes Island here in New Bedford.
This shot is taken by POpes Island Marina, which I think may be the biggest one here, that pier/walkway heading out comes from the car park through an entrance building and leads out to the piers
Pope's Island Marina features approximately 204 slips and over 300 moorings, offering extensive docking
The facility has 204 floating concrete slips and 810 feet of fixed pier space, and over 300 moorings are available.
The marina can handle vessels up to 100 meters, which I think must be a pretty large boat, I have sene some large yachts docked there.
to get out on the piers is members only for the most part, I have ewalke dout on them a couple of times when a replica sailing ship was in the marina and visitors were allowed

This next shot is some of the boats docked at Fleet Marina, it features a 36-meter-long dock designed for up to 55 pleasure boats.
A separate 80-meter-long breakwater and working dock is available for commercial vessels.
