I was recently able to explore an abandoned Victorian Asylum in Hamilton Ont., known as Century Manor. Which was a great surprise because it has been sealed off with security for years. (post from that explore: @terrywayne/exploring-an-abandoned-victorian-asylum)
I knew I wanted to go back in for light painting, but it was sealed back up the next day! Now a couple of months later and I got a message from a friend, telling me that it is open again. I packed my gear up and got to it right away.
I started on the main floor using different light set ups for shots of the decay, then spun some steel wool.
The basement has two levels and I really enjoy the old brick and decay! The first level has more confined spaces, so steel wool was difficult but doable. Also tried some light figures while I was at it.
The second basement is a little more open, with long brick halls.
After setting the lights up, I decided a "vortex" spin of steel wool would fit the look, and I was not wrong! Happy with the shots, I ended the night. Extremely happy to have been inside of the asylum again and with the results!
