Honeydew
I live in a place where a lot of trees are located on the streets which is an awesome thing for the psych, the climate in the few hot days we have in Hamburg and it also looks beautiful in every season. In mid-late summer all the cars around here are usually covered in honeydew. If you now think: "oh honey on cars - weird but yeah honey is tasty!" then let me tell you it's a different story. The honeydew I am talking about is not the usual honey most of us love to eat and like to add into our tea. I am talking about a secretion of different insects and I hope most humans usually do not eat that. This "insect shit-cover" looks hideous and is super sticky so dirt is automatically attracted to car surfaces. It is even destructive if you do not clean your car regularly and if you donβt know: I am lazy so I did not wash my car this summer at all. Last Sunday I had enough and gave my car a little bath in the local car wash with high hopes that the layer of glue and dirt would come off completely but I was wrong. My car still has got a thick layer of this shit on top. I heard that a solution could be to use alcohol and scrub the honeydew off. That is my plan for the upcoming sunday afternoon. I am going to take a sponge and a bottle of rubbing alcohol and give my best to save my car from further damage. But that's another story I perhaps write about here soon. Who knows?
Car Wash
Going to a car wash is always something special for me. Not just because I doesn't do that often. I love the cozy atmosphere inside of my car surrounded by rags and big brushes taking care of my car automatically on the outside. I usually eat something and listen to music while enjoying this almost sacred place but this time I planned something different: I took my camera (Sony a6400) combined with a fast 50mm lens (Sony 50mm f1.8) and shoot many closeup photos. After reviewing the images I am very pleased with these and I think the photos capture the mesmerizing feeling perfectly! Check them out and please let me know what you think.
Unusual Cropping
In Adobe Lightroom I did something unusual for me as well. I have played around with the aspect ratio and picked 21x9 to have a more - attention trigger word - "cinematic" feel. Usually I pick 4:3 or something else more square-like to fit into the instagram best practices but this time I let my feelings decide and I like the results a lot! What do you think?
My Favourites
Within the 5 minutes the car wash took I made around 30 photos. I narrowed them down to 6 favourites which perfectly fitted into 2 separate collections based on their color and subjects.
Please do me a favor: I exported these images for you in various aspect ratios! Make sure to open them via the π and look at them that way to really get a feel for them. I just wanted to save you some bandwidth to open this post so I have exported every image pretty small to embed it here...
