We visited the Dali Theatre and Museum while we were in Barcelona. We took the train for about one hour and reached our destination amidst a very bad weather. Alternatively, you can drive there, Figueres is about 140 km from Barcelona.
When I was a little girl, I adored Dali. I thought that the power of his mind was immense. Growing up, I started loving other painters as well such as Degas and Van Gogh. I think that Dali was an artist with great imagination and amazing marketing skills.
The way he presented his personality and then his works can be admired by today’s best professionals in marketing. I see him as an artist with amazing mind, very ahead of his times and able to enchant the public mind. He didn’t just display his imagination in his works, he also placed himself and his dear wife Gala, in the middle of his artwork. And remained immortal!
The creation of this museum is his own work, with the help of the then mayor of Figueres and was decided to be created in this village as this was his hometown and HE was Figueres’ favorite child. The building was an old theatre which was half destroyed and re-built to become a museum. Dali’s grave is located somewhere in the building.
The artistic choices were Dali’s and of course are remarkable:
A jewelry collection:
A external sculpture:
Installations:
Various objects and works of art:
Paintings with combined meanings:
It is worth taking a visit to this museum. He was an immense artist with a mind and talent well ahead of his times.
Till next time, enjoy!
