I was looking forward to the end of the work week so that I could indulge in one of my favorite hobbies over the weekend - nature walks.
This weekend I planned make my photo walk on both shores of the "Syndicate" Dam, which is located near the town of Lukovit and my workplace - "Golden Park".
And so on Saturday morning, equipped and full of mood, I set off for the near shore of the dam. Today I will limit my walk only to this shore, and tomorrow morning I will make you a virtual walk and on the opposite shore 😃
Here the route is relatively short as this coast is located near the main road and the Golden park when you can be reached by car.The easy and quick access, the picturesque nature around, and the beautiful landscapes that open around, make this coast a very preferred and popular place for walks for visitors to the park. In a few hours it will be lively with walking tourists, and for this reason I came early in the morning while it is still calm.
Sindikata Dam was built in the period 1926-1938 along the Golden Panega River, which springs only 20 km from the town of Lukovit.The name of the Golden park symbolically derives from the name of the river.
The dam was built to build a hydroelectric power plant - Lukovit, which is one of the first in Bulgaria, and which operates and produces electricity to this day.
On the opposite bank you can see the remains and ruins of an old pumping station.
In the 80's and 90's it was functione and was used to irrigate agricultural property in the city area.I even remember when i was a little kid , the irrigation canal that ran very close to my home and we used it to irrigate our garden.
This massive building in the next photo is known to locals as the "The former sea club"
About 30 years ago, it was a base for training divers and training in some water sports such as scuba diving, underwater orientation , rowing and water skiing. As a child, I came here to this coast with my father to watch competitions in various water sports that took place in the dam.
Until 3 years ago, the building, although neglected and deserted, was relatively preserved in its original form. Now after begin the construction of the Golden Park , appearance and purpose of the building have been completely changed.
On Sunday morning I continue with the second part of my walk. Today I will go to the opposite shore of the dam.After yesterday , I feel wonderful and today charged with a lot of positive energy, I go off another relaxing walk.
The road to the other shore is much longer, so I have to drive a few kilometers out of town with my car, which I will leave later.
I soon arrive at the place I have chosen as a starting point for my walk today.
I stop here to take few great pictures.This panoramic gazebo offers a picturesque landscape to the dam and the golden park, as well as a unique view of my town Lukovit and Golden panega river who crossed the town in the middle.
The place is extremely popular with locals and is a preferred destination for walks and picnics on weekends. It is also a favorite place for romantic solitude of couples in love
I will leave my car here and continue to the dam on foot
A few more kilometers walk through the forest await me.
After about 30 minutes of walking I am already on the shore of the dam.
Here is a favorite place for fishing of local fishermen
I myself often come fishing here, because the place is quiet and there is a great variety of different types of fish in the dam.The nature around is beautiful and picturesque.
At the end of my walk I had a nice meeting with a family of cats who like me has gone out to enjoy the nice sunny weather.
Only a few kilometers up here on the river is and the unique eco-trail Iskar-Panega.It is visited year-round by thousands of tourists from Bulgaria and abroad.
