Hello friends! I hope you're all well.
Living for many years in several fishing villages in southern Brazil, I felt the need to photograph the traditional activities of these communities. I also participated on some occasions in the collective fishing called "drag" in which the net is released into the sea by the boat and pulled from the beach by everyone present (the fishing is distributed among everyone according to the task)
Artisanal fishing was and still is the main source of subsistence for these families.
Tradition passed down from generation to generation, today faces the danger of disappearing as the new generations prefer new directions.
Today I present to you a selection of photographs where we can appreciate the work of the fishermen. This work is getting harder every day, as the large fishing vessels destroy the fish population, threatening the livelihoods of these communities.
The photos were taken on the beaches of Barra da Lagoa, Campeche and Armação, in the southeast of the island of Santa Catarina.

Olá amigos! Espero que estejam todos bem.
Vivendo por muitos anos em várias vilas de pescadores no sul do Brasil, senti a necessidade de fotografar as atividades tradicionais dessas comunidades. Também participei em algumas ocasiões da pesca coletiva chamada de "arrastão" na qual a rede é solta no mar pelo bote e puxada desde a praia por todos os presentes (a pesca é distribuída entre todos de acordo com a tarefa)
A pesca artesanal foi e ainda é a principal fonte de subsistência dessas famílias.
Tradição passada de geração para geração, hoje enfrenta o perigo de desaparecer já que as novas gerações preferem novos rumos.
Hoje apresento a vocês uma seleção de fotografias onde podemos apreciar o trabalho dos pescadores. Trabalho cada dia mais difícil, já que os grandes navios pesqueiros acabam com a população de peixes, ameaçando a subsistência de estas comunidades.
As fotos foram feitas nas praias de Barra da Lagoa, Campeche e Armação, no sudeste da ilha de Santa Catarina.
