The ecosystem functions as a nursery for many marine species, which is why it is not difficult to find artisanal fishermen with their nets at the mouth.

A Barrinha da Ferrugem é uma praia localizada ao sul da praia da Ferrugem, separada da mesma por um canal que comunica a lagoa encantada ao mar.
O ecossistema funciona como berçário de muitas espécies marinhas, por isso não é difícil encontrar os pescadores artesanais com suas redes na desembocadura.
