There was the day of the city in Tbilisi on October 1-2, its 1567th birthday (founded in 455 AD). Concerts and fairs were held in several places, and there were stages with actors playing roles in costumes of the 19th century to show visitors how life of Tbilisi looked in the old times.
A historical scene, a Georgian woman plays cards
But I decided to focus on visitors of the celebration to show you, dear reader, how people of Tbilisi look nowadays.
The smile of an unbreakable optimist
I wanted people were more relaxed about me taking images of them so I mounted my biggest (professional-looking) lens, Nikkor 70-300mm, and headed to the city center.
Another photography lover
I tried to look idle and interested in a donkey eating hay (at the historical stage) and actors pretending to be merchants playing backgammon. Meanwhile, I was watching people around me. And not only people:
Many posed for cell phone cameras of nearest and dearest, and I took advantage of this opportunity as in case of this diligent girl:
Another way to sneak a portrait is to wait until a person, standing back to you, half-turns and shows their face. Like this girl with the sly look:
Or this man with a girl:
The girl reminded me characters of Botticelli. The languid look, wreath, tilted head.
Taking images from a far distance (focal length 195mm): a street BBQ chef, with a writing მწვადი (BBQ in Georgian):
He spotted me and was not happy about my intrusion but this made his look more manly. Would be disappointing (from the point of photography) if he smiled at me :)
A lot of young moms and kids.
This charismatic woman immediately caught my attention. I wanted more images but her children, she had a boy as well, noticed my interest, and I had to switch to other models so that the children would not inform their mother about my activity. 😀
A walk of happy people. This time is gold in their life, it's obvious.
A woman was desperate about her kids' uncontrollable behavior:
Not the best portrait because of these unclear emotions on the face - my fault. But I like the effect of shining hair. I'll come back to that place to try taking better images with the same effect
What a nice light. The same place:
I love the light, the style of this person and passion with which he drinks. My favorite image in the post :)
I will visit this spot again and again. This is where the sunlight neatly comes through the park before the sun sets behind Mount Mtatsminda around 4:30 (in October).
Park 9 April. The street lamp is shining with the sunlight
Yes, the beginning of October is almost summer, it's hot but nights aren't that warm anymore, and first autumn leaves appeared in the streets.

Thank you for stopping by, more reports from Tbilisi, Georgia are coming. 🙂
