Hello Hive!
My order has finally arrived!
A quick context, when HIVE pumped a little bit about two weeks ago, I decided to go YOLO and ordered a macro lens that I've been eyeing for a long time. I have been jealous of those macro shots shared here in Hive and I've always wanted to dip myself into macro photography. I don't want to get serious about it though. I just want to have more variety in the content that I'm sharing here.
I guess you all know by now I'm all for Hive and no one should dare to question my commitment to this platform. 😂 The good thing here is that I'm allowed to be myself while exploring all things that I really wanted to do. I was able to invest more in myself and my hobbies while trying to live like a normal human being. And by normal human being, I mean the one who was able to pay the bills.
I would like to thank those who supported me by upvoting my blogs for you made these all happen to me. You know who you are. I was able to expand my hobbies. Everything was made possible by my earnings here.
Before I'll get emotional, let's have the unboxing and the first shots of my new macro lens.
Unboxing + First Impressions
I just searched in Shoppee a macro lens that would be compatible with my Fujifilm X-T100 and chose a preferred seller. I let my sister order because I didn't have a Shoppee app. If you're asking why, it's to control myself from online shopping random and useless stuff. It was ordered almost two weeks ago and I'm surprised it arrived today.
One thing I noticed from the box was the weight. It was 2,875 grams! Factoring the box and probably accessories, I thought it was still heavy considering the lens takes up most of the weight. Like I had no idea what I was buying. I never realized manual lenses are usually heavy. I got used to my Fuji's kit lens which is really small and light.
Of course, the staple bubble wraps to protect the items inside. It's actually double wrapped since lenses are fragile. I know you know that already, but I just want to add them here for the word count.😏
After all those wraps and manual are away, my new macro lens is finally revealed! I couldn't contain my delight! Don't worry, it will die down a few days after. Anyway, it's a 7Artisans 60 mm F2.8 lens. It's not the most expensive brand in the market, but it's good enough for me. It's also what I can afford for now. 😂
I got so excited to test it that I immediately got my camera and mounted it without even reading the manual first. Who reads the manual anyway? So when I tested it, it wouldn't take a photo! Of course, I had to enable the function in my camera for taking a photo without the lens. Read your manual kids!
First Few Shots
The first victim would always be my mother's plants. The thumbnail photo is my very first shot. There's actually another one, but it was so blurred that I had to adjust the shutter speed. I didn't use a tripod so it's understandable.
The lens is 26 centimetres so it protrudes disproportionately with the camera. I will still get used to its weight. It's really heavy for me. But overall, I love the shots! I couldn't wait to try it more and explore its capabilities.
I couldn't wait to get busy with taking macro photos of bugs! The problem is it's difficult to find bugs in the city. I'm also planning to feature my brother's guppies in Hive Pets so this lens will come in handy.
For those who might accuse me of "stuffing my pockets", sis don't! 😂 This is where the money goes. This will definitely help me bring more content to this platform. I also believe that every penny I earned here is from hard work. Anyway, I'll always be grateful for all the support. From upvotes to comments and reblogs. They inspire me to be better.
I guess that's all for this post! Time to find some bugs and post in Fascinating Insects community!
