But first of all...
¡Check this out!
There was a time in the good old days of the "social network" on the blockchain when most of us had a handful of good tools and DApps to consult, revisit, know, order, make a follow up, manage and clean up from time to time our list of followers and followed in the "social" ecosystem in which we interacted and made a living everyday.
And most of us used them to have a close approximation of what our potential audience was and basically to know for whom we developed content for consumption and "curation" on the "social network" on the blockchain. Mainly for gaining awareness of the number of our actual readership in order to gain new followers, loyal commenters & "curators" and obviously, also with financial and economic purposes in function of earning more and better monetary rewards by growing our accounts with greater influence and relevance asap with the positive effect of encouraging us to generate more and better content for all of those who appreciated it and paid well for it.
It is also worth mentioning that at that time, we also had a small icon (in the shape of an eye) at the end of our posts that served as a counter for the views that our articles had had. But yeah, I have to admit that that "counter" wasn't reliable at all in terms of determining the actual number of "organic" views our articles had gotten.
Since just by refreshing the page in our browsers, that number was artificially increased without having to do it. I suppose that was an undesirable bug in the programming of the developers of such a "feature" that when they could not solve it and make it work as planned, they simply decided to eliminate it without further ado.
However, I understand that recently the people of PeakD resurrected that old feature that they now call "insights" for the same purpose and which works only on their website. Although I still haven't been able to test it enough as to be absolutely certain that this time it works as is due and that it could be completely reliable for that function. I'd probably have to do more tests and I will report back later.
So, as far as I know and if I am not mistaken, at Hive we have never had those old DApps and Tools that I am talking about to review, control and manage the lists of our followers and the lists of those we follow. Even if it is only to know if they are dead or alive and whether it is worth still keeping them in our lists or removing them outright. ¿Who would really want to follow or be followed by a bunch of corpses?
Yeah, actually there were a few of them that served good enough for this purpose of keeping the house tidy and clean away from bad smells and whatnot. Like the DApp whose image I show above and which was the best known and popular among users for these cleaning tasks and which disappeared and no longer exists on the web from long time ago. As well as the other DApps & Tools that I will also mention below:
- steemit.deadfollowers.info (The one in the Pic above that gave simple reports like this one below and it allowed you to know who they were, in order to delete them right away from their own UI)
- fdsteemtools.neocities.org/steemit_followers (That went a step further with the "reports" providing you with very useful additional information from our followers and those who we followed to do the same job)
- www.steemvp.com (That in general it was used more to know who were your most loyal followers according to their upvotes in your posts and that it also gave you very complete reports similar to those of the previous DApp)

- steem.makerwannabe.com (That used to tell you who followed you, who unfollowed you and who muted you in real time) More or less like Gina and other similar DApps/Bots but without using Discord at all.
And so by this style some others too. Although the one I used to use more often because it was the most complete, powerful and informative for all these tasks of control, monitoring and administration of dead followers and the dead ones you follow. It was one named SteemSpectacles which besides of have been a very effective DApp for these "social" cleaning matters among many other debugging stuff. It also had a complete dashboard for multiple other useful tasks to manage your accounts conveniently. And which as for the control of corpses, this one, like the previous ones, certainly also gave you very useful and complete reports for the chore.
¿Why have I written this post today? (you might be wondering) and I will answer you right away. Well, for nothing in particular. It's just that today it occurred to me to clean the house to get rid of corpses, vermin, parasites, bad smells and things like that and I realized that up to now nothing exists in Hive to carry out this necessary task of "social" sanitation quickly, easily and simply. ¿I wonder why there isn't?
Probably it will be because...
A large majority here have already gotten too used to the automated assured upvotes they receive regardless of what they write and post and already give a damn about who reads their content or not to improve what they produce?
Cause many here already have the privilege of having HIVE/HBD sent directly to their wallets (from the communal rewards pool which goes under the table so that nobody finds out) on a regular, constant and periodic basis without having to post a damn or doing anything else of true value for the entire community to earn hive rewards?
Or it will be because the whales and the big stakeholders with high HP within the ecosystem who are the ones who really exert a significant influence when upvoting to distribute tokens. They couldn't care less about the content that the rest of us create and they are only interested in getting more naive users and new slaves to shill, promote, and advertise the chain everywhere for free to attract and recruit new naives and slaves out there to do the same in exchange for a few tokens according to their whims and premises to have some sort of "social" success here?
Well, I don't know about you, but these are some of the reasons that come to my mind now to explain why no one has yet developed a DApp for Hive that allows you to manage quickly, easily and securely the status of your followers and those who you follow. Obviously there could be many more reasons. Therefore, feel free to add in the comments section below what you think might be relevant and also apply.
Alright, by the moment I will only say goodbye. Since I have an important disinfection task to carry out to put the house in order that I've been postponing for a long time. And if I'm gonna have to do it manually, I will have to pay close attention to what I am doing. Since in advance, I am well aware that I have a large number of people who I follow and who follows me who have been corpses on Hive for a long time. But I won't delete them all yet because I know they're not quite dead yet.
There are some who were only banished from the chain in a bad way due to the pressure and abuse that some opulent individuals exerted on them. But I know they are still alive silently visiting Hive from time to time and publishing content elsewhere.
Some others that in fact have already died naturally and silently in the chain. Renouncing to keep creating thoughtful content for free that is not appreciated by the honchos of the ecosystem. But who lately I have come across them out there online in other activities and therefore I know that they are still alive although with other interests and I would not want to miss their publications if they appear over here again.
And last but not least. Some others that do seem to have died a long time ago, have been devoured by the worms and have already served as fertilizer somewhere. But that because of the great quality of their content in the past and the high and generous dose of humor with which they wrote their articles. Humor yeah, something that was never well appreciated here and very difficult to find today in the chain.
I would in no way want it to be difficult for me to remember their usernames to be able to find and read their content again as a source of inspiration which nowadays is so difficult to find in Hive. Users like: ,
,
,
,
,
,
and
just to name a few exquisite corpses that I remember. ¡Certainly no one should deprive themselves on purpose of a good source of inspiration! ¿Isn't it?
