Wow, friends, it's been a long time since I drew a drum, several weeks, and in Rising Star there are so many of them, in all shapes and sizes. I really felt like drawing one today so you could see it in this drawing post. Before I tell you which one it is, I'm sending you all a big hug. The drum I drew is the Shaker Drum. You can find it in the Rising Star shop using the ID number R379, in the instruments section. It's rare, which is why its attributes are 50 for luck.
The Shaker Drum, friends, is a very varied instrument with many variations. The one in the deck is just one of the many that share that name. That's why if you're looking for music with it, it will be difficult to find one exactly like the one in the deck. But generally, they're all made in a similar way. It's a piece of wood that's hollowed out. An animal skin membrane, almost always goatskin but cowhide as well, is attached to each side. They're not very big, about the size of the bongos I drew here recently.
This one from the deck is interesting because, if you look closely, it has two membranes on each side, and other shaker drums don't have that, only some do. Although most of the time it's played on one side, sometimes for certain rhythms, like various African and tribal rhythms, both sides of the drum are used, thus utilizing both membranes. I could hardly manage it; if I can barely play on one side, let alone both! 😂 I haven't tried this type of shaker drum, but I have tried others that have only one membrane, that is, the classic type.
So, what did you think of the shaker drum? Did you already know a little about it? I don't know much, just the basics, and I loved being able to talk about it here today in the drawing post. While we were talking, you saw the drawing. I'll be back soon with more; there are still many great instruments to draw, so stay tuned so you don't miss the new drawings. Thanks for visiting.
