I'm happy to be back, friends. I've been a little absent from the community lately because I'm in the middle of my studies, and it's a bit difficult to post drawings often. But I'll do my best to be around more often. Today I finally had the chance and enough time to draw for you. For this drawing, I chose a musical instrument from Rising Star: the Slide Whistle. You can find it in the R275 deck in the shop. Its attribute is 50 Luck, very useful for increasing skill later. Take a look at how I started the drawing, and in a moment I'll tell you more about the instrument.
Friends, although it might not seem like it, the Slide Whistle is a flute. I know it's very easy to confuse it with other instruments. It doesn't have holes on its surface like other flutes do to control the airflow. I don't blame you, because I was confused too the first time I saw it. Actually, this flute is very special and unique. To play it, you blow air through one end, just like any wind instrument. What's peculiar is how it's played; it's very similar to a trombone.
I said it's very similar to a trombone because this flute has a mechanism inside that lengthens and shortens. It's like a trombone, which has a slide that extends and retracts to create notes. Well, in this case, it's exactly the same. As you can see, it has a small handle; the musician pulls it out and pushes it back in, creating notes. It's very peculiar because it's something rarely seen in other flutes; in fact, I think it's one of the few that can do it. Its sound is very funny; it's very similar to something going up or down. I can't explain it very well; you have to hear it to experience it.
What did you think of the drawing and the Slide Whistle flute? I'd love to know what you think about this or if you were familiar with the instrument. Before I go, here's an interesting fact. These days, the slide whistle isn't used as much in orchestral music; its use has become more limited to film scores because it can create various effects. That's all for now, but I'll be back soon. Take care.
