Detroit Rock City: Kiss
My song of choice on Spotify for today's post is Detroit Rock City from the legendary american band Kiss.
Rock music has been a big part of my life since I was a kid. This was largely thanks to my mother's influence, as she listened to a lot of music at home. Among all the bands she used to play, there was a lot of Argentine rock, but also some international bands like Kiss.
They were probably one of the first rock ‘n’ roll bands I ever heard. At the time, I didn't understand much about music or the band's history, but there was something that really caught my attention: the way they dressed.
As a kid, I thought it was pretty impressive to see a band with such distinctive clothing and makeup. Each member had a different persona, and that made the group feel completely different from other rock bands I had seen.
The other big influence that ended up bringing me closer to international rock was Guitar Hero. That game had quite an impact on my musical tastes during my teenage years. I remember spending hours trying to complete increasingly difficult songs with the guitar accessory that introduced me to the world of gaming.
Detroit Rock City is a song I heard again recently while I was out and about, which led me to look up the band again on Spotify and listen to all their songs. That's why I ended up choosing it for today's post.
Kiss is a rock band formed in New York in 1973. The group was originally composed of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss. One of the most striking things about the band was the characters that each member portrayed, which led them to wear clothing that was quite flashy for its time.
Detroit Rock City is one of the band's best-known songs and is part of the album Destroyer, released in the late 1970s. It was one of the songs that catapulted the band to international fame.
