I will be drawing the card S68 The Big Guy because it is a card with a Christmas theme and that time of the year is approaching so I found it appropriate, I will be drawing it in my style, and I will be using markers and colored pencils. The original card shows Santa Claus with a gift in the shape of a guitar, I really liked the design so I wanted to try it myself. In addition I want to incorporate the other elements in the form of text.
First I made the sketch of my drawing using pencil, with more cartoon style like the drawings we have been doing lately from the book Fun With A Pencil by Andrew Loomis.
On top of my pencil drawing I began to draw my lines, for that I will be using a black pen, since I will be using alcohol markers the most important thing is that the pen I use is not of an ink that dissolves with alcohol because it can smear when using the markers. Another trick is to wait a good while before erasing the pencil lines under the ink, so that the ink is completely dry and no accidents occur.
Now with the ink completely dry, in about two or three minutes it is time to carefully erase the graphite lines. Here I have several tips, the first is to draw with pencil as softly as possible trying to leave the fewest marks on the paper or very deep lines, then wait as I said before for the ink to dry, erase with a soft eraser, without rushing, giving small touches, and finally do not remove the eraser residues with your hand, you can use another soft paper, a brush or a sponge. I hope these tips work for you as they do for me, but since I am learning any advice you give me I will gladly listen to.
Now comes the most awaited part when we draw, what we all like the most and the most fun, we are going to color, as I said I will be using alcohol markers, tips for alcohol markers, they dry very fast, they are translucent and the order of your coloring is noticeable, therefore my advice is to color quickly and in the same direction avoiding going over the colored area several times. I will also be using colored pencils because that is another good thing about alcohol based markers, we can apply any technique on top once dry. I started with the red color because it is the one I will use the most.
And after coloring, I did not take long, I added the details in the letters and also with very soft color I made the blue background.
And as music cannot be missing I share with you Don't Shoot Me Santa by The Killers. Thank you for joining me one more day drawing.
