This is the digital redraw of a drawing I made in traditional format. I am trying to make over my first drawing a digital version, since drawing digitally makes tools more accessible and greatly improves the workflow without the limitations of the traditional format. This drawing will be the Rising Star S68 The Big Guy card. At first I chose this card for its obvious Christmas theme, I think it is the right card for this time of year.
Este es el redibujo digital de un dibujo que realicé en tradicional. Estoy tratando de hacer sobre mi primer dibujo una versión en digital, ya que dibujar en digital facilita el acceso a herramientas y mejora mucho el flujo de trabajo al no contar con las limitaciones del formato tradicional. Este dibujo será la carta de Rising Star S68 The Big Guy. En un primer momento escogí esta carta por su evidente temática navideña, creo que es la carta propicia para esta época del año.
I started by importing the traditional drawing into a layer of Ibis Paint, and lowering its opacity to about 30%. With the low opacity I can draw using a solid brush the lines of my drawing, guided by the original traditional drawing. I want this drawing, like the original, to have thick lines.
Comencé importando el dibujo tradicional a una capa de Ibis Paint, y bajando su opacidad sobre el 30%. Con la opacidad baja puedo dibujar usando un pincel sólido las líneas de mi dibujo, guiándome por el dibujo tradicional original. Quiero que este dibujo, como el original, tenga líneas gruesas.
After that I set out to color the background blue.
Seguido de esto me dispongo a colorear el fondo de azul.
The rest of the drawing is very simple since coloring is the most fun part whenever we draw. I gradually divide the drawing into sections of color blocks and add details to try to bring it to life. I am using a cheerful and energetic color palette.
El resto del dibujo es muy sencillo ya que el coloreado es la parte más divertida siempre que dibujamos. Voy dividiendo poco a poco el dibujo en secciones de bloques de color y dando detalles para tratar de traerlo a la vida. Estoy usando una paleta de colores alegre y llena de energía.
I started with the character’s clothing since in this drawing the predominant color will be the red of his clothes.
Comencé por la ropa del personaje ya que en este dibujo el color predominante será el rojo de su ropa.
After that I add details, colors and highlights to general elements of the composition as well as to the character’s accessories. The guitar cannot be missing, it reminds us of a Christmas gift.
Después de eso doy detalle, colores y brillos a elementos generales de la composición así como a los accesorios del personaje. No puede faltar la guitarra que recuerda un regalo de navidad.
I add some more details to the background and place with a predesigned brush some snowflakes. Ready, the drawing is now complete in digital format. I really liked this drawing, and taking it from traditional paper to the digital canvas. Thank you for accompanying me one more day drawing.
Agrego unos detalles más al fondo y coloco con un pincel prediseñado algunos copos de nieve. Listo, ya está completo el dibujo en formato digital. Me gustó mucho este dibujo, y llevarlo del papel tradicional al lienzo digital. Gracias por acompañarme un día más dibujando.
